Recipe Type: sorbet, pink grapefruit, palate cleanser

Prep Time: 10 min
Total Time:10 min
yield: 1-1/2 cups sorbet

Ingredients:

distilled water for making frozen plates of ice

1/2 cup water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cups pink grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed

2 drops red food coloring (optional)

Instruction:

Line a small saucer with plastic wrap, fill with distilled water then freeze until solid. (Use any size plate you desire). Make one frozen plate for each serving. Make in advance.

Bring 1/2 cup water to a boil in a small saucepan, whisk in sugar until dissolved, remove from heat, add the fresh grapefruit juice. If you are like me and cannot find pink grapefruit, stir in the food coloring. Transfer mixture to a shallow container, cover and freeze.

Puree frozen grapefruit in a mini food processor or blender then freeze again, (no ice cream maker is required).

Remove plastic wrap from the plates of ice you made; make melon balls of the sorbet mixture, place one on each plate and serve.

wine Wine recommendation: Pinot Gris; Chardonnay
