Serves 2

15 ounce package frozen pie crust, thawed
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup fresh strawberries, slice
1/2 teaspoon powdered sugar
Chocolate syrup for garnish

Roll pie crust to 1/16-inch thick.  Use a cookie cutter to cut 6 hearts, place on a parchment lined sheet pan or Silpat and bake at 375° for 4 to 8 minutes or until lightly brown.

Whip the cream to soft peaks. Place one baked heart on each plate, add a small amount of whipped cream and sliced strawberries. Continue building the Napoleon until each plate has 3 pastry hearts with whipped cream and strawberries between.  Dust tops with powdered sugar and chocolate.

Garnish with strawberry fans, coulis sauce (recipe follows), mint sprigs and serve.

Strawberry Coulis (sauce)
3 fresh strawberries, stems removed
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch

Cut berries in small pieces; push through a fine sieve with the back of a spoon. Microwave the coulis for 1 minute, add cornstarch, stir and microwave again until sauce thickens.

Wine recommendation: Champagne
