Asiago Cheese Puff Appetizer, Cheese Appetizers, easy appetizer recipe









If you are looking for a simple easy hors d'oeuvre for entertaining, this is it...  
not only is it easy to make, it is tasty with the combination of Asiago cheese, 
finely chopped onion, enhanced with fresh Thyme leaves and cayenne pepper for a 'kick'

You could cut the bread slices into different shapes, 
toast them early in the day then apply the Asiago spread and bake this appetizer when guests arrive...  it only takes a few minutes. 

It is great to serve before dinner or on your patio with wine.  Enjoy!

Makes 20 

5 thin white sandwich bread slices
1 cup Asiago cheese, finely grated
2 tablespoons yellow or white onion, finely chopped
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
3/4 teaspoon fresh Thyme, finely chopped
pinch salt
dash of Cayenne pepper

Trim crusts from bread.  Cut 4 round (or square) pieces from each slice. Bake on a sheet pan at 400° for 3 to 4 minutes or until lightly toasted. 
This can be done in advance, covered at room temperature.

In a small bowl combine the next 6 ingredients and spread the Asiago mixture on the toasted bread.  Return them to the oven, bake 5 to 8 minutes or until puffed and golden. Serve hot or cold.

Wine recommendation: Pinot Gris
